Overview
VNX+™ is a family of Small Form-Factor (SFF) standards suitable for rugged, high-reliability applications, adhering to a modular open-system design approach. Where possible, it employs proven engineering strategies, found in the VITA™ OpenVPX™ family of standards. Due to the optimized pin assignments, inclusion of system management capabilities and the addition of coaxial and optical I/O connectors, VITA™ 90 VNX+™ modules are not backward compatible with its predecessor.

The VITA™ 90 VNX+™ family of standards defines multiple SEARAY™ connectors for both backplane and plug-in-modules in 13 mm & 19 mm stack heights, producing a variety of pin counts to complement Half and Full VITA™ 90.2 Optical/RF Connector Modules and VITA™ 90.3 Power Supply Units. VITA™ 90.2 - Connector Modules
VITA™ 90.2 VNX+™ defines additional electromechanical hardware to facilitate high-density, high-speed, coaxial and optical I/O, necessary to support applications requiring RF, video, or high-sensitivity sensor connectivity within the VITA™ 90 VNX+™ ecosystem. Samtec's RF modules fill a variety of needs in both full and half aperture size ranges, where one or two 2x12 MTs, as well as size 16 & 20 gauge coaxial contacts meet 50 Ω & 75 Ω applications. Samtec's rugged optical solutions enhance performance and simplify board layout. FireFly™ Flyover® mid-board optical transceivers support up to 28 Gbps per lane in x4 and x12 configurations in a miniature footprint for higher density close to the data source. FireHawk™ ruggedized mid-board optical transceivers support 10 Gbps per lane in a x4 configuration in the industry's smallest footprint and lowest profile package; see the Optics Solutions Guide for more information.
