MSA

Multi-Source Agreements (MSAs) often act as a de facto Standard. This allows for competitive markets containing interoperable products such as SFP, SFP+, QSFP, QSFP-DD, QSFP-DD800 and Open CPX MSA among others.

SFP

SFP/SFP+ (Small Form-Factor Pluggable) is a compact, hot-pluggable optical module transceiver commonly used in telecommunication and data communications applications.

Samtec's SFP+ cable system includes a panel mounted connector and jumper cable for high-speed applications.

QSFP

As advanced ASIC and FPGA solutions hit the market, a next generation module that overcomes the limitations of QSFP needs to perform at 50+ Gbps per channel. The new QSFP-DD standard focuses on addressing data rate bottlenecks on the front panel and between systems.

Samtec's Flyover® QSFP Systems provide improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility by flying critical high-speed signals over lossy PCB materials and directly to the panel via ultra low skew twinax cable. The ultra-high-density design includes sideband signaling via press-fit contacts to help increase airflow, and a multitude of “End 2” options allow for maximum design flexibility.

QSFP-DD

Similar to SFP/SFP+, QSFP utilizes a x4 channel configuration often over fiber. Applications typically include interfacing between network hardware.

Samtec's Flyover® QSFP-DD Systems provide improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility by flying critical high-speed signals over lossy PCB materials and directly to the panel via ultra low skew twinax cable. FQSFP-DD features 8 bidirectional channels with data rates of 200Gb/s NRZ (400 Gb/s PAM4). Additionally, QSFP-DD provides backwards compatibility with all QSFP modules for increased design flexibility.

QSFP-DD800

Similar to SFP/SFP+, QSFP utilizes a x4 channel configuration often over fiber. Applications typically include interfacing between network hardware.

Samtec's Flyover® QSFP-DD800 Systems provide improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility by flying critical high-speed signals over lossy PCB materials and directly to the panel via ultra low skew twinax cable. FQSFP-DD features 8 bidirectional channels with data rates of 200 Gb/s NRZ (400 Gb/s PAM4). Additionally, QSFP-DD provides backward compatibility with all QSFP modules for increased design flexibility.

OSFP

The OSFP is a pluggable form factor with 8x high-speed electrical lanes that support up to 400 Gbps (8x50G), 800 Gbps (8x100G), or 1.6 Tbps (8x200G). Up to 36 OSFP ports are supported in a 1U front panel.

Samtec's Flyover® OSFP Systems provide improved signal integrity and architectural flexibility by flying critical high-speed signals over lossy PCB materials and directly to the panel via ultra low skew twinax cable. FOSFP features 8 bidirectional channels with data rates of 200 Gb/s NRZ (400 Gb/s PAM4).

Open CPX MSA

The Open CPX MSA, of which Samtec is a founding member, will develop the specifications enabling a broad ecosystem of interoperable CPO/NPO interconnect systems that reduce power consumption, cost, and latency while increasing bandwidth density, capacity, and the reliability of high-speed interconnects for AI data center applications.

The initial target of the MSA is an optimized optical engine with a defined pluggable socket and electrical connector system based on Samtec’s Si-Fly® HD 224 Gbps PAM4, Co-Packaged & Near Chip Systems supporting high-speed, high-density connectivity between ASIC and CPO/NPO interconnects. The Open CPX MSA specifies key technical parameters to ensure interoperability between multiple vendors within the MSA.
